Charles Hopkinson was an American landscape water colorist and a portrait painter. During his lifetime he painted almost 800+ portraits and most of his portraits were commissioned. He had many sitters such as Calvin Coolidge, Oliver Wendell Holmes and John Masefield.
Though he
was born in Cambridge but later he moved to New York and there he studied with
John Henry Twachtman and H. Siddons Mowbray.
He also
studied with Edmond Aman-Jean at the Academie Julian in Paris.
He died in October
1962 at Massachusetts.
