Amedeo Modigliani | Italian Painter and Sculpture | 1884-1920

Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian Expressionist painter and a sculptor. He was born 1884 and later died in 1920. It is said that only 27 sculptures by this famous artist known as Modigliani are known to exist. Amedeo Modigliani tried to capture the primitive and raw power of mysterious African masks and also beautiful and adorable smiling faces of Khmer heads and Cambodian heads.

It is said that Amedeo Modigliani conscious attempted to get away from the soft and tender modeled surfaces of Rodin’s sculpture.
